365 Days of Living the Dale Carnegie Principles

Day 244. Thursday, November 24, 2011
A couple individuals today asked me questions they already knew the answer to. It was awkward and unpleasant. I didn’t know how to respond as the room fell silent.

I answered the questions and felt very small. Then I felt frustrated and upset. Why do they ask these questions? What is their goal, to create awkwardness?

I returned home tired and upset. I remembered my blog. I have 240+ days to prove I am doing my best—no matter what anyone says, thinks or believes.

The Dale Carnegie principle I am using is from How to Stop Worrying and Start Living:
Do the very best you can.
Protect your health and appearance by relaxing at home.

The lesson in this story—when someone intentionally or inadvertently makes you feel small—focus on your positive attributes instead. No one but you has the right and responsibility to determine how you feel about yourself.
