365+ Days of Living the Dale Carnegie Principles

Day 669.  Tuesday, January 22, 2013
I returned to work today after my vacation.  I had a dry hacking cough and I looked a little haggard.  After work I was going to go to the gym.  It just seemed logical to return to the gym.  I continued to cough during the entire commute home.  That’s when it occurred to me— I’m still sick!  Technically I should skip the gym, go home and rest so that I can recover my health.  There’s plenty of time to return to my regimented gym routine once I’m healthy again.  Pushing myself while still being weak will delay my recovery.

The Dale Carnegie principle I am using is from How to Stop Worrying and Start Living:
Protect your health and appearance by relaxing at home.

The lesson:  you need to practice common sense— permit yourself to rest and recover!
