365+ Days of Living the Dale Carnegie Principles

Day 947.  Sunday, October 27, 2013
I opened the dog carrier and Scruffy the dog came out and walked around.  Then I stepped into another room for just a moment.  When I returned I noticed the dog had an accident on my carpet.  Argh!

I cleaned the carpet and continued with my day.

Later that evening I noticed Scruffy missed the dog pad and had an accident on the tile floor.  Argh!  I cleaned the mess.

Then I smelled something unpleasant…. Argh!  I cleaned the mess.

Nighttime came.  I noticed another accident on the carpet.  Again, I cleaned the mess.

The Dale Carnegie principle I am using is from How to Stop Worrying and Start Living:
Don’t fuss about trifles.

I can get mad at the dog or I can clean the mess and move on.

The lesson in this story:  You have a choice in how you react to situations.  Exercise self-control with your emotions and focus on moving forward.
