365+ Days of Living the Dale Carnegie Principles

Day 953.  Saturday, November 2, 2013
It was 11:30 pm as we walked out of the opera house.  We walked to one side of the building to admire the Dallas skyline.

Smiling Daffodil:  “You know… I have my camera in the car… and we look nice since we’re dressed up…”

We took the elevator to the parking garage then reached the car.

Roe: “Get your camera!  We’re heading back out.  You’re right, this is a rare opportunity—the weather is nice, we’re dressed up…”

So I grabbed my professional camera and off we went to take photos.

I had a blast taking photos of my friend.  The lights on the opera house made an interesting background.

Smiling Daffodil:  “Oh my!  These photos are amazing!  Keep posing for the camera, Roe!”

Roe humored me—and I suspect he also enjoyed the attention.

Next he took photos of me.

We must have spent 30-45 minutes taking photos before returning to the parking garage.

By this time the rush of attendees at the opera were long gone.  The parking garage was empty—ours was among the only cars left.

Roe:  “Not many people would opt to stay and take photos after watching an opera.”

Smiling Daffodil:  “It was fun!”

Roe:  “Thank you for joining me on my birthday.  Not many people I know would like this sort of thing—I don’t normally get to do these things.”

The Dale Carnegie principles featured in this story are from How to Win Friends and Influence People:
Create happiness for others.

The lesson in this story:  Learn to live in the moment and have fun—it benefits you and others!
