365+ Days of Living the Dale Carnegie Principles

Day 963.  Tuesday, November 12, 2013
My eyes were spewing flames—at least they felt like it.  I stared long and hard at my friend.  I was livid.  I didn’t think my friend was listening or understanding.  I threw my Carnegie principles away.  I was done.  No more.  I’ve had it with humanity.

I skipped dance class.  I didn’t have the energy.

Instead I went home to mom.  We talked and I rested.  After an hour and a half it was time to go home.  I felt better.

As I walked to my car I prayed, “thank you God” and I said goodbye to my mom.

The Dale Carnegie principle I used this evening is from How to Stop Worrying and Start Living:
Protect your health and appearance by relaxing at home.

The lesson in this story:  there is no substitute for rest.  You can try to keep going, keep charging forward but at some point you need to rest.  One of the consequences not getting enough rest—you run out of patience with others.  You don’t want to take out your frustrations on others.
